Cirque du Soleil Celebrates a Milestone Month at “O”, KÀ and Michael Jackson ONE

Kicking off the celebrations, Michael Jackson ONE performed its 2,000th show at Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino on Monday, Aug. 14. Guests received a complimentary show poster in honor of the special day and delighted in the explosive finale as streamers and confetti showered the theatre. Backed by the Estate of Michael Jackson, Michael Jackson ONE is home to priceless memorabilia including the blue-and-white pinstriped suit Jackson wore in “Smooth Criminal.” Since opening in 2013, ONE has entertained more than 3.5 million guests and 246,481 buckets of popcorn have been sold.

On Thursday, Aug. 17, the aquatic masterpiece “O” celebrated its 9,000th splash at Bellagio Resort & Casino. Before the show, the cast and crew indulged in snow cones, ice cream and other sweet treats as they reveled in the production’s unprecedented success, with the show also taking to Facebook to share the exciting news. Established in October 1998, “O” has dazzled more than 15 million fans at its state-of-the-art theatre inside Bellagio. The production features more Olympic athletes than any other Cirque production, with 122 technicians and 77 performers bringing the show to life in a 1.5 million-gallon pool of water.

Rounding out the festivities, commemorated 6,000 performances on Wednesday, Aug. 23, kicking off the celebration with a special “thank you” speech by Company Manager Yago Pita, who took the stage to announce the milestone. Cast members enjoyed a congratulatory toast presented in custom “6,000 show” glasses, followed by a decadent spread of cupcakes, candies and other confections that evening. Hailed as one of the most groundbreaking productions on The Strip, the $165 million spectacle has captivated nearly 9 million guests since it first opened at MGM Grand Hotel & Casino in November 2004. Since then, there have been 720,000 fireballs discharged before the show, 714,000 fireworks fired throughout the performance, a snake puppet that has traveled more than 90 miles down 14 “trees,” 660,000 live arrows shot across the stage and more.

  • “O” performs Wednesday through Sunday at 7 p.m. and 9:30 p.m.
  • KÀ performs Saturday through Wednesday at 7 p.m. and 9:30 p.m.
