Coheed and Cambria, Porcupine Tree and The Dear Hunter to Perform at The Joint Aug. 13

In support of their current album (and novel), Year of the Black Rainbow, New York’s indie-prog-metal-storytellers Coheed and Cambria announced today that they and British prog rock masters, Porcupine Tree, along with The Dear Hunter, will be doing a run of dates this August. The tour will include a stop at The Joint at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino on Friday, August 13. Tickets go on sale this Friday at noon.

Coheed’s spring major market tour produced 27 sellouts in 27 tries, including the 5500 capacity Central Park outdoor stage in NYC, 4500 tickets in Philadelphia and the 3800 Congress Theater in Chicago. Porcupine Tree to their credit has a confirmed headline slot forthcoming at the prestigious Radio City Music Hall in NYC this September.

Coheed and Cambria’s “Year of the Black Rainbow” charted #5 in its first week with 51,000 sold, the band’s highest career chart position. The band released a deluxe edition of the album with a 352 page hardcover novel of the same name, penned by lead singer/guitarist Claudio Sanchez, with Best Selling Author, Peter David.

Time Out New York said “the band wisely refines a winning formula” and the Boston Globe commended the band’s “driving urgency, and cinematic sweep” while The Onion raved that the album brings “higher expectations: cinematic ones” and is “atmospheric, even when it colossally rocks.”

Tickets, starting at $25 (plus applicable service fees), will be available Friday at noon at the Hard Rock Box Office, all Ticketmaster locations, online at Ticketmaster.com or charge-by-phone at 800-745-3000.
