Counting Crows and Rob Thomas take over the Downtown Las Vegas Events Center
An award should be handed to whomever decided on this tour’s lineup. Counting Crows and Rob Thomas filled the downtown air with familiar sounds on Saturday night as they helped celebrate the D Casino Hotel’s 5th Grand Opening (Pictured: Rob Thomas with Derek Stevens, Owner of Downtown Las Vegas Events Center – Photo credit: the D Casino Hotel).

Derek Stevens, Owner of the D, greeted the bands backstage during their afternoon soundcheck. All of the musicians huddled around Derek’s cool custom-made suit, complete with each of the bands’ Twitter handles. Rob Thomas had a little fun in front of the camera after seeing his name on the back of Derek’s suit jacket.
The concert began with the talented singer/songwriter, K Phillips, who won over the crowd with his lyrical wit and cool country-rock vibe. What a way to warm up a Saturday night in Vegas!

The massive crowd’s excitement grew even wilder as Derek Stevens took the stage to welcome all of the guests to the highly anticipated night of music.
The reigning Miss Nevada USA, Emelina Adams, was also spotted enjoying the concert in the VIP area.

The audience had stars in their eyes as Rob Thomas walked out and dominated the stage. He stunned the crowd with hits such as “Unwell” and “3 A.M.” from his famous band, Matchbox 20, as well as chart-topping solo hits like “Lonely No More” and “This Is How a Heart Breaks”.

Every person in the venue was up on their feet and singing especially when he performed “Smooth”, the 1999 smash-hit by Santana! What a flawless display of musicianship.

The party wasn’t even close to finishing. Next up was Counting Crows who made their presence known as they performed hits like “Mr. Jones” as well as a cool cover of “Pale Blue Eyes”; paying homage to The Velvet Underground. They sounded better than ever, but they already gave that away in their soundcheck.

The D Casino Hotel’s GO5 Celebration was a huge success over the weekend. Two nights of great bands with good music and awesome fans! Thanks to Derek Stevens for creating an incredible outdoor venue where everyone can sing, dance and party. It’s not every day that you see a concert lineup this awesome, but when it happens, it happens at the Downtown Las Vegas Events Center. If that isn’t enough the after party is always held inside The D Casino Hotel by the world famous Longbar where Derek personally makes sure the party continues.
It’s time for you to experience the fun for yourself, so make sure you clear your calendars and see all of the awesome events coming up.
