Dickey Betts & Great Southern to Perform at Cannery Casino March 10Dickey Betts, a founding member of the Allman Brothers Band, whose voice is described as one of the most distinctive in the music industry today, will perform with his band Great Southern at the Cannery Casino on March 10, 2012 at 8 p.m. 

Dickey Betts & Great Southern’s hits include “Blue Sky,” “California Blues,” “Out To Get Me,” “Nothin’ You Can Do,” “Bougainvillea,” “Sweet Virginia,” “Run Gypsy Run” and “The Way Love Goes.”

During the 2012 Grammy Awards, the Allman Brothers Band, with Dickey Betts, will be among those honored with a Recording Academy Lifetime Achievement Award for contributions of outstanding artistic significance.

Since its founding in 1969, Betts and the Allman Brothers Band have joined, split and rejoined for concerts across the country. After the tragic loss of two Allman Brothers Band members­Duane Alllman and Berry Oakley­Betts wrote and sang what would become thhe group’s biggest hit, “Ramblin’ Man.” In 1995, the Allman Brothers Band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Along with his voice, Betts is known for being one of the most influential guitars players of all time. The New York Times called him “… one of the great rock guitarists…” for his ability to marry the melody and rhythm of many genres including Country, Jazz, Blues and Rock.
