Don McLean to Perform at Texas Station Hotel & Casino Nov. 14

Artist Info: Don McLean had a passion for music since he was just a little boy. By 16 years old, he was making contacts in the business with the determination of becoming a professional musician. In 1969, he recorded his first album Tapestry, and just two years later, McLean released the song “American Pie,” quickly launching him to international fame.

He released the American Pie album a year later, which also featured the song “Vincent.” From the fame garnered from this song and album, McLean was able to tour concert halls, performing songs from his two albums as well as those from influential singers such as Buddy Holly and Frank Sinatra. He has since gone on to release several albums and hit songs, including Believers featuring “Castles in the Air” and “Crying” and Love Tracks featuring “Can’t Blame the Wreck on the Train.”

In 2001, “American Pie” was voted number five in a poll of the 365 Songs of the Century compiled by the Recording Industry Association of American and the National Endowment for the Arts.
