Eastside Events Center Presents Kansas and Starship Starring Mickey Thomas June 5
Two is always better than one! Two classic rock bands, Kansas and Starship starring Mickey Thomas (pictured above), will perform under one roof at the Eastside Events Center on June 5 at 8 p.m.
Kansas, whose hits include “Dust In The Wind,” “Carry On Wayward Son,” “Point of Know Return” and “Play The Game Tonight” received tremendous airplay on rock stations during the 1970s and 80s and it continues today on classic rock stations.
Known for its music and meteoric rise in the industry, Kansas started as a garage band in Topeka in 1970. Within 8 years the group sold millions of records and sold out concert venues. Kansas is made up of five talented musicians, four of whom are original members: Founder Phil Ehart, Billy Greer, Steve Walsh, Richard Williams and Robby Steinhardt.
Starship, starring Mickey Thomas, worked its way up the charts in the 1980s and 90s propelled by Thomas’ compelling and instantly recognizable vocal range. Thomas joined Jefferson Starship in the late 70s and the band was later renamed Starship. The group’s hits include “Jane,” “We Built This City,” “No Way Out”, “Find Your Way Back” and “Nothing Gonna Stop Us Now.” Thomas will also incorporate songs from his two solo albums and his time with The Elvin Bishop Band, which included lead vocals on the hit “Fooled Around And Fell In Love”.
