Eastside Events Center Presents Michael McDonald in Concert June 17

Five time Grammy Award winner Michael McDonald, whose instantly recognizable voice has earned him fans around the world and record sales measured in the tens of millions will perform at the Eastside Events Center at the Eastside Cannery Casino & Hotel Friday, June 17 at 9 p.m.  

McDonald’s unique “velvety tenderness” vocals and R & B influence helped propel The Doobie Brothers to incredible success with many hits including “What A Fool Believes,” “Minute by Minute” and “Yah Mo B There.” McDonald first gained wide attention when he joined the group Steely Dan singing backup and playing keyboards onstage.

One year after the release of Steely Dan’s “Katy Lied,” McDonald was asked to join the Doobie Brothers. In the years that followed, McDonald and the Doobie Brothers enjoyed tremendous success. McDonald’s writing and lead singing abilities propelled the hits “Taking It To The Streets,” and the Grammy Award winning song of the year “What A Fool Believes.”

After the Doobie Brother’s first farewell tour; McDonald starting working on his own career. He released his first solo album “If That’s What It Takes” and won another Grammy Award for “Yah Mo B There” with James Ingram. McDonald earned two Grammy nominations for his album “Motown,” a tribute to the sounds that inspired him. In 2008 he released his “Soul Speak” album which features his interpretations of 11 soul inspired songs like “Walk On By” and “Living For the City,” “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough” and “Heard It Through The Grapevine.”
