“Elvis Presley’s Heartbreak Hotel in Concert” Set to Debut at Harrah’s Las Vegas April 15, 2019
From the producers of “Rock of Ages” comes “Elvis Presley’s Heartbreak Hotel in Concert,” the ultimate Elvis hit-driven, story-telling concert experience, opening Monday, April 15, 2019 at Harrah’s Las Vegas. Presenting the music and the story of Elvis’ meteoric rise to fame all in one night’s immersive experience, the show features more than 18 Elvis songs that came to define “rock ‘n’ roll” as we know it today, while four giant LED walls present authentic imagery and scenes from his extraordinary life (Photo credit: Gary Ng).

“Elvis Presley’s Heartbreak Hotel in Concert” is the only Elvis production in Las Vegas authorized by Authentic Brands Group, owner of Elvis Presley Enterprises, LLC. Inspired by the musical originally written and directed by Floyd Mutrux and now adapted for the stage by Ivan Menchell, the concert version of the show in Las Vegas is being staged by Broadway veteran Jeff Calhoun. Unlike previous versions of the show, the Las Vegas production will focus on the music and will be a concert performance.

Leading the band as Elvis Presley is Eddie Clendening, who is widely regarded as one of the most genuine and true-to-life performers of Elvis. Clendening created his role while starring as the “King of Rock ‘n’ Roll” in 2,200 performances on the Broadway production of “Million Dollar Quartet.” He also played Elvis in the Chicago and Japan productions of the show.

Harkening back to Elvis’ original Blue Moon Boys band, Clendening will be joined on stage each night by Matt Codina, who originated the role of Scotty Moore in the musical “Heartbreak Hotel;” Jonny Bowler(bass), who has recorded and played with numerous top acts including Wanda Jackson, Guana Batz, Levi Dexter and others; Cole Maxwell (drums), who has been performing since he was five years old and has worked alongside Andre Williams, Dick Dale and Brian Setzer; Colte Julian (piano and Music Director), best known for his critically acclaimed national touring role as ‪Jerry Lee Lewis in ‪”Million Dollar Quartet;” and Geno Henderson (guitar), who has performed as Jackie Wilson, BB King, Ike Turner and others and originated the role of Jocko Henderson on Broadway in “Baby It’s You.”

“There is no better place for ‘Elvis Presley’s Heartbreak Hotel in Concert’ to perform than in Las Vegas, the city where Elvis Presley performed some of his most memorable shows,” said Scott Prisand, producer for Robbins Lane Entertainment, who has also produced “Rock of Ages,” “Legally Blonde,” and other notable stage productions and feature films.

“This is a musical experience not to be missed,” said Seth Fass, producer for Robbins Lane Entertainment. “Whether you love Elvis, love his music or just love a good storytelling concert about the birth of rock ‘n’ roll, this production has something for everyone. Audiences young and old will share this moment in time, a pivotal moment in pop history when Elvis Presley became the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll forever.”

“We’re thrilled to bring Elvis back to Las Vegas, an epicenter for live entertainment,” said Marc Rosen, EVP Entertainment of Authentic Brands Group. “’Heartbreak Hotel’s’ original storyline and immersive format make for a truly unique concert experience that is sure to captivate audiences from around the world.”

“After seeing the production in Chicago, we actively pursued ‘Heartbreak Hotel’ to perform at Harrah’s Las Vegas,” said Dan Walsh, general manager of Harrah’s Las Vegas. “We were thoroughly impressed with the show and the caliber of talent – it’s a true stand-out in its class and a differentiator for the current Las Vegas entertainment market.”
