Executive Sous Chef Thomas Tapat of SUSHISAMBA Las Vegas Wins the Grand Prize on the Food Network’s Chopped

Executive Sous Chef Thomas Tapat, took home the grand prize on Chopped, the Food Network’s popular reality-based cooking show in which four chefs compete against each other, taking a mystery basket of ingredients and turning them into dishes that are judged on their creativity, presentation, and taste. 

Judges Martha Stewart, Chris Santos and Mark Murphy proclaimed Tapat the winner of last night’s episode titled “Think Small,” and awarded him the grand prize of $10,000.

The episode’s mystery ingredients included Daikon Kimchi, Pork Sandwich, Patatas Bravas, Roasted Chickpeas and to celebrate the airing of last night’s episode, SUSHISAMBA Las Vegas hosted a screening and offered a special menu, inspired by the ingredients Tapat worked with on the show. Dishes include Grilled Chorizo apple seviche, sweet soy; Wagyu Meatballs teriyaki – aji amarillo glaze, mixed green salad; Aji Panca Sautéed Pork gnocchi, organic poached egg, sake soy reduction and Sata Andagi agave yogurt sauce.

“Competing on Chopped was a fun and exciting experience, I felt as if I was walking on eggshells every round not knowing what to expect to pop out of that mystery basket! When the fire is lit and set on high, the pressure is on!” – Thomas Tapat.
