Known the world over for classic rock anthems “Slow Ride” and “Fool for the City,” Foghat will play The Orleans Showroom for two nights, January 29 and 30, each evening at 8 p.m.

Roger Earl and Lonesome Dave Peverett wanted to give a more rock ‘n roll flavor to the blues-boogie music they were playing with their band Savoy Brown, so they enlisted Rod Price and Tony Stevens to form Foghat in 1971. Beginning in 1972 and every year through 1983, the group released a new album. Their first release, Foghat, was followed up with a second self-titled record, Foghat, also known as Rock and Roll due to the cover art of a rock and a dinner roll.

Foghat toured and recorded consistently throughout the 70s and into the early 80s. Album titles include Energized; Rock and Roll Outlaws; the group’s first platinum record Fool for the City, which garnered two Billboard hit singles including the title track and “Slow Ride;” Night Shift; the double platinum selling Foghat Live; Stone Blue; Boogie Motel; Tight Shoes; Girls to Chat and Boys to Bounce; In the Mood for Something Rude and Zig-Zag Walk. Hit singles include “Drivin’ Wheel,” “I Just Wanna Make Love To You” and “I’ll Be Standing By.”

Throughout the years, Foghat endured several changes to the line-up of band members. Founding member and drummer Roger Earl has performed consistently with the band since the first day. Though the band split for two years in the mid-80s, Foghat returned to touring in 1986. All four original members reunited in 1993 and released an album in 1994 entitled Return of the Boogie Men. Several live recordings were released in the late 90s into the mid-00s. Founding member Lonesome Dave Peverett passed away in 2000.

Foghat’s music has reached a new generation of fans with songs a part of the soundtracks of films Dazed & Confused, Wild Hogs, Bottle Shock and Halloween II. The music also appears on the popular home video game Guitar Hero III and has been featured on many television shows and commercials. In 2008 the group launched their own brand of wine called “Foghat Cellars,” and in summer of 2010 they released a new album, Last Train Home, reconnecting the band with their blues roots. The current band line-up includes Roger Earl, Charlie Huhn, Bryan Bassett and Craig MacGregor.
