Troy Liquor Bar Nightly Specials – Thursday through Sunday, doors open at 9 p.m.

Lita Ford – Jan. 5 at 8 p.m.
- Sprung from the ashes of the ’70s all-girl hard rock band The Runaways, Lita Ford is subtly feminist in her musical approach, displaying guitar heroics on the level of any male metal hero. The mere fact of her existence in the otherwise testosterone-driven heavy metal genre has made her a hero to many. Ford is inarguably capable of rocking out aggressively and assertively.
Rick Derringer – Jan. 12 at 8 p.m.
- American rocker Rick Derringer was just 17 when his band, The McCoys, recorded the Number one hit “Hang On Sloopy” in the summer of 1965, knocking “Yesterday” by The Beatles out of the top spot. Derringer later played and recorded with Johnny and Edgar Winter’s bands and Steely Dan, though he is probably best known for his 1974 solo hit “Rock ‘N Roll Hoochie Koo.”
The Association – Jan. 19 at 8 p.m.
- The Association was one of the more underrated groups to come out of the mid- to late ’60s. The group’s smooth harmonies and pop-oriented sound (which occasionally moved into psychedelia and, much more rarely, into a harder, almost garage-punk vein) made them regular occupants of the highest reaches of the pop charts for two years. Their biggest hits, including “Along Comes Mary,” “Cherish,” “Windy,” and “Never My Love,” became instant staples of AM play lists.
Ambrosia – Jan. 26 at 8 p.m.
- Los Angeles quartet Ambrosia, whose founding members included guitarist/vocalist David Pack, bassist/vocalist Joe Puerta, keyboardist Christopher North, and drummer Burleigh Drummond, fused symphonic art rock with a slickly produced pop sound. The group was discovered in 1971 by Los Angeles Philharmonic conductor Zubin Mehta, who featured Ambrosia as part of a so-called All-American Dream Concert. Their first record Ambrosia was released in 1975 and spawned the chart singles “Holdin’ on to Yesterday” and “Nice, Nice, Very Nice.” Ambrosia followed this success in 1980 with another number three hit, “Biggest Part of Me,” and the number 13 follow-up “You’re the Only Woman.”
