Hakkasan Nightclub Celebrates Tiësto’s Birthday With a Jam-Packed Weekend Featuring a Surprise Performance by the Jabbawockeez
This weekend, Hakkasan Nightclub celebrated resident DJ Tiësto’s upcoming 49th birthday with a jam-packed series of events to honor the legendary electronic dance music icon (Photo credit: Jordan Loyd).
The GRAMMY Award-winning artist hosted a complete takeover of MGM Grand Hotel & Casino, which included a transformation of the main lobby, a meet and greet with fans, a featured menu at Hakkasan Restaurant, his annual firework display, and much more.
The festivities began Thursday, Jan. 11, as the birthday boy himself headlined at Hakkasan Nightclub. The signature lion in the main lobby was transformed to say “Happy Birthday” to the iconic DJ, as several different photos of Tiësto were projected on the raised platform, as well as his signature bird symbol that has become synonymous with the artist’s brand. Before performing at the premier nightlife venue, Tiësto made his way to Hakkasan Restaurant to check out his specially created menu in honor of the celebratory weekend. The DJ’s favorite dishes such as the Crispy Duck Salad, Hakka Noodle, and Steam Dim Sum Platter were highlighted, as well as the featured cocktail the Boomin’ Mule.

The celebrations continued Saturday, Jan. 13, with Tiësto hosting a meet and greet in the lobby of MGM Grand in the late afternoon, which he arrived to in a stunning gold Ferrari. Upon his arrival, his long line of supporters erupted in cheers as the iconic artist walked through the crowd, shaking hands and greeting several people along the way. A few moments later, famed dance crew the Jabbawockeez performed a surprise pop-up dance routine to a new remix of Tiësto’s single “BOOM” featuring Gucci Mane, which caught the attention of every passerby in the busy resort. Tiësto clearly enjoyed the special show, as he was quick to greet the dancers and snap several photos with them following the performance. The award-winning artist then greeted his adoring fans, as he posed for photos and signed merchandise.

The revelries didn’t stop there, as Tiësto was treated to a fireworks display later that night in his honor, which went off atop the roof of MGM Grand. The DJ then made his return to the turntables for another high-energy performance, where he was presented with an extravagant four-tier custom cake. Adding to the excitement, fellow resident DJ Lil Jon made a surprise appearance at the nightclub, where he enthusiastically pumped up the crowd while wishing Tiësto a Happy Birthday.
