Iconic Rockers Heart to Perform at Green Valley Ranch April 2

The legendary rock band Heart is set to perform at the Grand Events Center at Green Valley Ranch on Saturday, April 2, 2011, at 8 p.m. This is Heart’s first headlining gig in Southern Nevada outside of the famed tourist corridor, bringing the show to the heart of the valley’s locals.

At the center of Heart are sisters Ann and Nancy Wilson, who joined the already-formed band in the early ’70s and made it the celebrated name it is today.  The sisters quickly took the helm as lead songwriters with Ann serving as lead vocals and Nancy on backup vocals and lead guitar.

The band first gained a following in Canada and became a smash success upon their first album release Dreamboat Annie in 1976 in the U.S. The album earned platinum status and its singles “Magic Man” and “Crazy on You” helped pave the way for hit songs for years to come.

This style of original, powerful, deeply personal works were evident in several albums, including 1977’s Little Queen and 1978’s Dog & Butterfly that helped Heart earn its good name in rock history in the first place. The commercial triumphs continued through the ’80s and ’90s, with 1985’s Heart, 1987’s Bad Animals and 1990’s Brigade. Hit singles during this time, include “How Can I Refuse,” “Alone,” “These Dreams,” “How Do I get you Alone?” and “What About Love,” among numerous others.

Throughout the ’90s, the Wilson sisters would go on brief hiatuses from Heart to perform with a folk rock quartet they formed. However, they have always returned to Heart and their style of rock they have epitomized for so many years.

In 2010, Heart released the album Red Velvet Car, completing Heart’s journey back to their original musical passions that the Wilson sisters have always worked towards.
