Justin Shandor from Las Vegas, Nev. Wins 10th Annual “Elvis Rocks Mesquite”
Elvis Presley’s legacy was reignited this past weekend in Mesquite, Nev. as hundreds of fans attended the 10th annual Elvis Rocks Mesquite competition. Each year, the CasaBlanca Resort & Casino hosts the three-day event, in which some of the best Elvis tribute artists across the U.S. compete in three eras, the ‘50s, ‘60s and ‘70s, and $10,000 in total cash prizes (Pictured: 1st Place Winner Justin Shandor).
This year’s grand champion, Justin Shandor from Las Vegas, Nev., won the crowd over with his impressive vocals, rhinestone studded jumpsuit and electric dance moves.
Matthew Boyce, the young 19-year-old heartthrob from Saratoga Springs, New York won first place in all three eras and took home the second-place trophy in the final round. Fan favorite, Rob Ely from Oakdale Calif., won the People’s Choice Award.
The jam-packed weekend also included movies by the pool, featuring “Spinout”, multiple late-night karaoke events, a meet and greet and finals after party.
