Las Vegas Monorail Will Do The Driving on New Year’s Eve When The Strip is Closed to Vehicles
While our city hosts the best party in America this New Year’s Eve, the Las Vegas Monorail will continue to move thousands of people from one end of the Strip to the other, even when Las Vegas Blvd. is closed to vehicles and buses. For only $1 per ride, Nevada residents can navigate the New Year’s Eve festivities on the Strip without worrying about getting stuck when the street is closed to traffic at approximately 5 p.m.
“In 15 minutes or less, locals can reach their New Year’s Eve destinations in a safe, clean and hassle-free environment,” said Ingrid Reisman, vice president of corporate communications for the Las Vegas Monorail Company. “For only $1 per ride, locals can leave the driving to Monorail and spend less time traveling and more time celebrating the kind of party only Vegas knows how to throw.”
To receive the local fare, Nevada residents must present valid Nevada picture ID at the Las Vegas Monorail Customer Service Booths located at the MGM Grand and Sahara Monorail Stations. The MGM Grand Customer Service Booth will be open on New Year’s Eve from 11 a.m. – 6 p.m. The Sahara Customer Service Booth will be open on New Year’s Eve from 11 a.m. – 11 p.m. Locals can purchase up to four single-ride tickets (two round trips) per valid Nevada ID on New Year’s Eve. Booths will be closed on New Year’s Day.
As the rooftop fireworks displays are commencing the start of a new year, the Las Vegas Monorail will continue to offer reliable, non-stop service until 3 a.m., with trains arriving at each station every few minutes.
