Latin Recording Artist Joan Sebastian to Perform at Mandalay Bay May 24
Three-time GRAMMY Award and five-time Latin GRAMMY Award-winning Mexican singer and songwriter Joan Sebastian will perform a Memorial Day Weekend concert at the Mandalay Bay Events Center Sunday, May 24. The concert is scheduled to begin at 8 p.m.
Sebastian has composed hundreds of pop songs and has been a regular on the Top 40 charts in Mexico since his career began in 1977. His repertoire includes a mixture of Latin pop, rancheras and romantic music and his versatility is quite evident as he has drawn inspiration from all genres and popular trends. Sebastian’s music encompasses all tonalities, colors and rhythms, reflected not only in his most recent album, but in his vast discography spanning more than three decades.
One of Sebastian’s more popular albums, Secreto de Amor (Secret of Love), commemorates his entire 31-year recording career as a singer, composer and actor. The album consists of 10 songs and was produced solely by Sebastian. “Secreto de Amor” also is the name of the album’s first single.
“I began recording at age 17 and I am now 48,” said Sebastian. “I have celebrated each of my years, and underline the word celebrate, because they were beautiful years of struggle in pursuit of a dream; a dream which I already carry from the beginning, the dream of reaching the heart of my people and to nestle there.”
Sebastian’s success is not only found in his multi-dimensional music career but as an actor in telenovelas as well. His acting career debuted in 1996 when he became the main protagonist in a Mexican soap opera, Tú y Yo (You and I). The soap opera was an instant television hit and garnered fans throughout the Latin community.
