Redefining a “night out” and creating a unique, memorable experience each evening, LIGHT Nightclub at Mandalay Bay is thrilled to announce the exclusive residency of platinum recording artist, label-head and three-time Grammy award winner Skrillex. The downtown Los Angeles native broke out in 2010 with his platinum-smash EP Scary Monsters & Nice Sprites and has toured the globe since, performing at nearly every conceivable festival in the U.S. and abroad and releasing several critically acclaimed EPs, including “Bangarang” which is nominated for another four Grammys in 2013. His label, OWSLA, is spoken of in the same breath as many of the most reputable indie dance labels despite having only been operational for just over a year. The unique, diverse approach that Skrillex brings to his sets, featuring a broad spectrum of musical styles and jaw-dropping live production, is reflected in his curatorial approach to signings and collaborations- he’ll be bringing friends, label-mates, and up-and-comers to join him on the decks at LIGHT.

“Vegas is an interesting new territory for electronic music, and I’m excited to be trying some new things out there,” says Skrillex.

Next up is Sebastian Ingrosso.  One third of Swedish House Mafia who have sold more than one million tickets worldwide on their current tour and won the Government Export Prize in Sweden, owner of Refune Records which boasts acts like Alesso and Otto Knows under his direction, producer and headliner in his own right, Sebastian signs up for his first-ever residency in Vegas.  Currently sitting in the USA Top 5 with Swedish House Mafia’s “Don’t You Worry Child” and behind the hit “Calling” featuring Ryan Tedder and producer on will.i.am’s “This is Love” featuring Eva Simons, Sebastian is well known for delivering the very best in music and producing some of the best live shows in the electronic dance music space.

“I met the guys from Cirque du Soleil and Moment Factory and I loved their vision and their creativity,” Ingrosso says. “Normally we have to play stadiums or festivals to get to really work on production and this gave me a team who will work with me on trying new concepts in the heart of where this music comes from….the club dance floor. I’m excited!’

Zedd burst onto the scene recently – going from relatively unknown DJ to appearing on David Letterman performing “Clarity,” supporting his album of the same name which hit iTunes Top Ten earlier this year.  He’s written hits for Justin Bieber and this week finally came out to talk about writing and producing the new Lady Gaga album ARTPOP.  He has signed up for his first ever Vegas residency in the biggest year of his career so far.

“I’m extremely excited to be part of LIGHT,” says Zedd. “Besides the incredible line-up, the unique concept is really refreshing and different from any other Vegas project.”

Baauer is the final DJ in this phase of the announcement and shows the wide genre of music you can expect at LIGHT. Leader of the fast-growing trap scene, he has sky rocketed with the recent debut of his single “Higher” with Just Blaze on Soundcloud receiving 200,000 hits in one day.

The club released today some conceptual drawings which give a glimpse of its innovative, state-of-the-art acrobatic LED structure. This massive structure was custom-designed to provide an immersive, flexible and creative playground for the performers and DJs.

Don’t think you will turn up and live the same nightlife experience, neatly choreographed and pre-programmed…there are quite literally limitless possibilities to what you will discover at LIGHT, an ever-evolving space designed by New York-based firm Josh Held. Furthermore, the club boasts the largest general admission dance floor in Las Vegas and was carefully designed to provide unparalleled sightlines for everyone.

“The nightclub will serve as a laboratory, very much like our special events and projects have done in the past, for different and new artistic possibilities,” said Guy Laliberté, Founder, Cirque du Soleil.

Music and Marketing Director Amy Thomson explains, “In my opinion, the DJs we have selected are the best in the world. All of them will work on this vision with us for one reason…to give the best night out we all possibly can.  The GA experience in this venue is second to none and that was important to everyone involved. The DJs, Cirque du Soleil and Moment Factory will be pushing each other’s boundaries in an electric atmosphere where anything can happen and most importantly having a LOT of fun doing it.  Choosing artists from Skrillex to Sebastian Ingrosso to Baauer to Zedd shows you a little taste of the music policy where variety is key and repetition is impossible.”

Spearheading LIGHT at Mandalay Bay is The Light Group founder Andrew Sasson who has been intimately involved with each detail of the venture. Often credited with establishing and cultivating nightlife on the Las Vegas Strip, Sasson is no stranger to worldwide entertainment, having also launched venues throughout Europe, New York and Miami. Longtime music-industry executive Amy Thomson, manager of global artists including Swedish House Mafia, also worked on the development, music and marketing of LIGHT.

Andrew Sasson said, “This partnership and the projects we are working on will be unlike anything the world has ever seen before – the ultimate theatrical nightlife venue. Cirque du Soleil has built a brand with worldwide recognition and their creativity, attention to detail and passion for their work perfectly complement The Light Group and everything we stand for.”

Daniel Lamarre, President and CEO of Cirque du Soleil, said “This new creative challenge is exciting for us. We have the opportunity to re-think the nightclub experience and apply our creative and artistic signature to different audiences and live experiences.”

LIGHT Nightclub today also released a video trailer and announced a contest in the lead-up to LIGHT’s highly anticipated opening this spring at Mandalay Bay.

The teaser suggests “the Light is behind the doors” and directs visitors to TheLightVegas.com where – starting today and running through mid-February – they can open virtual “doors” which will reveal clues about the artists scheduled to perform at LIGHT and other exciting details.  After viewing each clue, and submitting their guess, those who have correctly identified ten of the clues will be entered into a drawing to win two tickets to the opening weekend including flights, accommodations at the Four Seasons at Mandalay Bay, dinner, a V.I.P. table and a meet and greet with the DJ’s. The winner will also get an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour to see how this unique show gets put together as well as meet the Cirque Du Soleil troupe which helps make each evening at LIGHT a show.
