Founded in Los Angeles, California Los Lobos (the Wolves) have blended Mexican folk music, rock and roll, blues, R&B and country together for more than four decades. One of the most momentous events in Los Lobos’ history arrived in 1987, when the band was tapped to cover “La Bamba,” the Mexican folk standard that had been transformed into a rock and roll classic in 1958 when it was recorded by the ill-fated 17-year-old Ritchie Valens. Some of their most notable tracks include: “Shakin’ Shakin’ Shakes,” “Set Me Free” and “Will The Wolf Survive?”

Co-headlining with Los Lobos, The Mavericks were founded more than 25 years ago as a standout alternative band in the Miami rock scene dominated by hair metal and punk. They were noticed by producer Tony Brown in Nashville, and when they got signed to innovative MCA Records, they upended expectations in country music. Their blend of Cuban grooves and Bakersfield-inspired twang netted them several CMA and ACM Awards as well as a Grammy in 1995.

Doors open at 7 p.m. and the show begins at 8 p.m. Tickets start at $25. For tickets, visit primmvalleyresorts.com or call the Star of the Desert Arena Box Office at 702.386.7867. Box office hours of operation are Tuesday to Friday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.
