Together the child-adult pairs played indoor and outdoor games, enjoyed a BBQ lunch, got their faces painted by members of National Charity League, took pictures and interacted with Henderson Public Safety Assets (SWAT, K-9, Traffic Units, Fire and Rescue Units), met characters like Hey Reb, The Duke and Cosmo, and  stopped by the Balloon Artist’s Station (Balloons With A Twist), and enjoyed the entertainment.

This year comedy magician and Tropicana headliner Murray SawChuck, along with and his sidekicks Douglas “Lefty” Leferovich and Chloe Louise Crawford, kicked off the event. Murray performed some amazing magic including finding three selected cards by stabbing the deck in mid-air with a sword!

Murray said, “I consider it an honor to perform for these amazing boys and girls! Lefty, Chloe and I loved every minute! This is honestly the best part about being a celebrity and performing on the Strip!”

Michael Turco and Nathan Burton were the headlining act that performed after everyone returned to the gym. After the acts, Chet Buchanan acted as emcee and helped run a general prizes giveaway that allowed each of the kids to pick their own prize. In the grand prizes drawing 10 lucky kids won prizes like TVs and Wiis, Kinects and Nintendo 3DS’s. A Medal Ceremony rewarded the top winners of each game.

Hey Reb helped Chet hand out all of the prizes and medals. Then after the event, which ran from 11am-2pm, the adult volunteers attended an after party held at the Beach House Grill and Bar (the old Half Shell). Everyone got a free drink, Beach House provided light appetizers and about 20 additional prizes were given away.
