Recognized worldwide as the ultimate Las Vegas entertainment destination, MGM Grand today revealed designs for its new rooms and suites.

Underway this week, the $160 million remodel includes all 3,570 guest rooms and 642 suites in the hotel’s main tower and is expected to conclude by September 2012. The initial set of redesigned rooms will be complete by the end of November 2011.

Featuring warm, yet vibrant designs and color palettes with contemporary furnishings, the new room and suite designs create comfortable and functional spaces within a sophisticated setting.

Created by the talented team at MGM Resorts International Design, the remodeled Grand King and Grand Queen guest rooms showcase a stylish combination of interior finishes and accents, creating a modern sensibility with an inviting ambiance.

Warm earth tones throughout each room set the stage for a relaxing environment, with splashes of vibrant colors carefully integrated into plush fabrics, striking artwork and playful carpet patterns. The Grand King rooms feature a tangerine and bronze palette while the Grand Queen rooms incorporate fuchsia, platinum and charcoal to create an inspired color expression.

Floor-to-ceiling headboard walls, accented by patterned fabric blocks above each bed, are flanked by mirrors on both sides, creating a dramatic visual as soon as guests enter the room.

Providing a streamlined focal point within each room, the dresser features spacious storage as well as a fully stocked mini-bar and media connectivity hub. Located above this centerpiece is a flat-screen HD television, openly displayed and visible throughout the room.

For guests who come to play but also need to work, the new rooms feature a spacious desk with ergonomic seating and task lighting. For those moments of relaxation, either two plush armchairs or a sofa will be placed adjacent to the window, to welcome in natural light by day and view the bright city lights by night.

New energy-efficient lighting and lamps will be carefully positioned throughout creating a residential feel with convenient, functional details including an electrical outlet at each base for easy bedside and tableside recharging.

Suite Redesign
For guests seeking additional space for entertaining and relaxing, a variety of one and two-bedroom suites will be redesigned, several of which include expansive terraces with sweeping views of the famed Las Vegas Strip.

While the furnishings are similar in form and function to the Grand guest rooms, the remodeled Tower Spa Suites and Executive Suites feature a distinct color palette with rich hues ranging from a royal plum to mink, taupe and cream.

The Executive One-Bedroom Suite showcases a dynamic palette of red and azure blue to create an element of energy and surprise. As the living and entertainment space expands, so do the amenities. Multiple seating and dining areas, large flat-screen televisions and a spacious master bedroom create a luxurious environment.

The new designs in the one-bedroom City View and Penthouse City View Suites include a variety of warm textures and fabrics, blending a combination of coffee brown, amber, cornflower blue and metallic neutral colors.

The two-bedroom Skyline Marquee Suite is an end unit with 180-degree panoramic views of The Strip. Designed with larger groups in mind, many of the Skyline Marquee Suites feature a great room with a billiard table, media/living area and a large table for games or dining, meant to create a lively atmosphere. Each end of the great room leads to a master suite, creating a natural separation between the two relaxation zones and capitalizing on privacy for each.

A unique find in Las Vegas, the two-story Skyline Terrace Suites feature a spacious outdoor balcony, where guests can relax and watch TV from their cozy sectional sofa or host a small gathering, all while overlooking the magnificent lights of Las Vegas. Conveying the sense of a residential penthouse, the newly designed Skyline Terrace Suites will feature modern and elegant furnishings, with a decidedly urban flair.

Sustainable Features
In keeping with MGM Grand’s commitment to sustainability, the newly remodeled rooms and suites incorporate environmentally responsible elements including LED lighting; improved thermostats and solar shades to better manage temperature and guest comfort; upgraded faucets and showers; and bath amenities that are 100 percent biodegradable.
