MGM Resorts Employees and Entertainers Join Forces to “Hit A Home Run” for Las Vegas Charities Nov. 19

When Vinny from New York-New York says those famous words, “play ball,” tomorrow at 10:00 am, the kick-off game of the company-wide softball tournament will begin; uniting MGM Resorts entertainers and employees in support of the company’s non-profit arm, MGM Resorts Foundation. This year, employees have raised $4.8 million for the Foundation.

The dark horse corporate team of executives and corporate employees take on tournament organizers, New York-New York, suited up in their trademark pinstripe blues, to start the two-day tournament featuring 10 different teams representing various MGM Resorts International properties. Each team contributed a $1,000 entry fee to participate to raise more than $12,000 for the MGM Resorts Foundation. The two-day tournament will incorporate teams from each property and end with a final game at 2:00 pm on Sunday, Nov. 21 to determine a tournament winner.

We will truly “take you out to the ballgame” with a classic day at the park, all in honor of a great cause. Here’s a sampling of tomorrow’s entertainment:

  • Vinny from New York-New York will channel legendary New York Yankees announcer Bob Sheppard by serving his own brand of hilarious, New York-style of sports commentary. We only hope he won’t be too biased!
  • Kevin Burke from Excalibur’s one-man show, Defending the Caveman, will take on the most rudimentary of manly skills—throwing out the first pitch
  • Lorena Peril, lead singer of FANTASY at Luxor, will employ her famous powerhouse vocals to start the first inning with a special rendition of “Take Me Out to the Ball Game”
  • Performers from Luxor’s FANTASY and MGM Grand’s Crazy Horse Paris will pump up the spectators and fill-in as base coaches (hope they don’t distract the players)
