King, Louis Armstrong, Prince, Ella Fitzgerald, Earth Wind and Fire, Sam Cooke, and many others on a journey through blues, soul, jazz, gospel, R&B, spirituals, and hip hop that celebrates the richness of African American culture.

Starring Michelle Johnson and other popular Las Vegas entertainers, and featuring a killer live band under the direction of David Rogers, this concert is sure to entertain, move and inspire. Special guests include Las Vegas favorite Skye Dee Miles, American Idol finalist Ken “Fletch” Walcott, Sarah Vaughan International Jazz Vocal Competition finalist Toscha Comeaux, viral Internet sensation Tymara Walker, outstanding R&B vocalist Avana Christie, and others.

Ghanian in origin, the concept of “Sankofa” is that we must remember, reflect upon and celebrate our past while moving toward the future, and that is just what the stellar cast of Sankofa will do in this afternoon of great music, dance and more. Don’t miss this outstanding program of music starring Michelle Johnson and some of the brightest names in Las Vegas entertainment.

Known as “Las Vegas First Lady of Jazz”, Michelle Johnson is the recipient of the National Association of Women Business Owners Woman of Distinction Award for her contributions in entertainment, and she is also the 2020 Las Vegas Black Music Awards recipient of the Lena Horne Award for Musical Excellence. Her soaring vocals, versatile repertoire, and ability to engage an audience in a dynamic, personal, and intimate way have made her a favorite at The Smith Center and in cabarets and performing arts centers across the country. Michelle has performed on Broadway and appeared, toured or recorded with legendary artists including Gladys Knight, Paul McCartney, Barbra Streisand, and Elton John.
