Mickey Gilley, Bill Engvall and Carlos Mencia Open a Year of Entertainment at Treasure Island
Country legend Mickey Gilley and renowned comedians Bill Engvall and Carlos Mencia open a year of entertainment at Treasure Island Las Vegas, beginning in February.
The original Urban Cowboy, Mickey Gilley, began performing in Houston nightclubs before scoring a string of No. 1 hits during the mid 70’s with “Room Full of Roses,” “I Overlooked an Orchid,” “City Lights,” Window Up Above,” “Don’t The Girls All Get Prettier At Closing Time” and “Bring It On Home To Me.” Gilley guest-starred on numerous television series, including “Murder She Wrote,” “The Fall Guy,” “Fantasy Island” and “Dukes of Hazzard.” Treasure Island is home to his namesake, Gilley’s Saloon, Dance Hall & BBQ, paying homage to the very successful Gilley’s Club in Pasadena, Texas, which was known as the “world’s largest honky-tonk.”
Bill Engvall originally aspired to be a teacher when he discovered his gift for making people laugh. Since then he has starred in and served as executive producer for “The Bill Engvall Show” on TBS and currently hosts one of the top-rated shows on CMT, “Country Fried Home Videos.” Engvall also performed in the “Blue Collar Comedy Tour” which produced numerous popular television specials and a hit movie. He has written several books including his autobiography, “Bill Engvall Just A Guy.” In June, he will premiere as the host of “Lingo” on the Game Show Network.
Carlos Mencia began his stand-up career performing at The Laugh Factory during amateur night and quickly rose to superstar status. His television buzz began with being named “International Comedy Grand Champion” on “Buscando Estrellas,” the Latino version of “Star Search.” The floodgates of his career opened up leading to a slew of television appearances and the series “Mind of Mencia” on Comedy Central. He has also appeared in numerous movies including “American Wedding” with America Ferrera and Forrest Whittaker. Mencia’s latest comedy special, “New Territory,” premiered on Comedy Central in December 2011.
