Nevada Champions Crowned at Nathan’s Famous Hot Dog Eating Contest at New York-New York Hotel & Casino

Champions were crowned today at New York-New York Hotel & Casino in the Nevada qualifying competition for the famed Nathan’s Famous International Hot Dog Contest held annually on July 4 in Coney Island, N.Y. Pablo Martinez and Carlene LeFevre were named “Nevada Hot Dog Eating Champions” and have earned a spot to compete on the Coney Island stage on July 4. During the 10-minute competition, Martinez took top male honors, finishing 26 hot dogs while LeFevrewon the female division, eating 13 hot dogs.

In the local heroes competition, Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department defeated Nellis Air Force Base and the lovely women of FANTASY at Luxor by consuming 33 hot dogs and winning $1,000 for the Injured Police Officers Fund.

The Nathan’s Famous International Hot Dog Eating Contest has occurred each July 4 in Coney Island, N.Y. since 1916, the year Nathan Handwerker opened the legendary restaurant.
