Oakland A’s Frank Thomas wins 4th Annual Eddie Guardado Poker Tournament at The Palazzo
Texas Rangers Relief Pitcher, Eddie Guardado and 35+ of his fellow major league baseball buddies kicked off their 4th Annual Poker Tournament weekend at The Palazzo Las Vegas with a private VIP reception inside the Sportsbook Bar & Grill. The reception was held in support of The Eddie Guardado Foundation’s efforts to offer direct financial support for families faced with the high cost of therapy and treatment for their children affected by Autism (Photos courtesy of The Venetian).
The Sportsbook Bar & Grill at The Palazzo was the ideal place to kick off the series of weekend events for this group as they felt right at home with all the sports memorabilia adorning the walls and the latest sporting events playing on all 70+ televisions found in the venue. The reception flowed thru many of the private rooms located within the venue allowing for exclusivity while creating a carefree and relaxing environment for Eddie and his friends.
On Saturday, December 6 at 10 a.m., Eddie and his MLB buddies started their 4th annual poker tournament in The Venetian Poker Room. The tournament began with 32 MLB players and at the 12 p.m. lunch break, 12 players had hit the rail leaving only 20 players remaining. All players were vying for the bragging rights and “The Force” championship watch provided by Charriol. Notable players in the tournament included:

Bobby Kielty, Oakland A’s Outfielder, was the two time reigning champion of the Eddie Guardado Annual Poker Tournament and was among the 20 remaining players.
Winner: Frank Thomas
By 2pm we had our final table and a few hours later we had our champion: Oakland A’s First Baseman, Frank Thomas. For his win, Frank claims bragging rights for an entire year, a crystal plaque and a Charriol watch from the Force Collection. The watch is steel and leather with diamond bezel and features Swiss automatic movement with chronographic functions. Retail Value: $6,590.
Chicago Cubs Outfielder, Reed Johnson took home 2nd place and Charriol watch from the Columbus Collection. It was rectangular in shape and featured a steel case and bracelet. Retail value: $1,890. Bob Wells, retired Minnesota Twins Pitcher captured the third spot and a Charriol watch from the Actor Collection with bolded numerals 10-2-4-8 and features steel quartz movement. Retail Value: $1,690.
