“OPIUM” Blasts off at the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas
During last night’s galactic premiere of OPIUM, the crew of the Orbital People Mover 4.2 (OPM 4.2) blasted off on their inaugural interplanetary flight from the planet Uranus, successfully landing at the OPIUM Theatre at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, Las Vegas, Earth (Pictured: Dr. Roger Regis with Nurse Raquel of OPIUM – Photo credit: Al Powers for Spiegelworld).

On its maiden voyage, the starship’s passengers were treated to a stellar performance by an irreverent ensemble crew of fools, many showcasing their peculiar talents – from sword swallowing and singing, to feats of danger, wonder, extreme athleticism, and more. The thrilling, at-capacity premiere flight was met with wild applause and a standing ovation by the ship’s passengers upon touchdown.

“Crikey! Tonight is the realization of a bloody huge dream,” said veteran Australian promoter and numerologist, Harry M. Howie. “The idea for OPIUM first came to me a few years back when I was hit on the head by a piece of space junk while towing my caravan though the Aussie outback. I have to pinch myself that we’re standing here now at the show’s premiere in Las Vegas. This is just the beginning. When Elon Musk populates Mars, he is going to need some entertainment, and OPIUM will be ready for him.”

OPIUM’s debut crew is commanded by the bold and beautiful Captain Ann Tennille and her right-hand man, Lieutenant Lou Tenant. The crew also includes its newest recruit, Chip; the latest in android technology, Rob the Robot; cruise director, Leslie; medical team, and amateur magicians, Dr. Roger Regis and Nurse Raquel; and maintenance man, Scottie. Spotted entertaining guests aboard the voyage was celebrity chanteuse Dusty Moonboots, whose alien ancestors founded Las Vegas many lightyears ago, as well as the greatest band from Quasar System 5, The Many Moons, comprised of Dlanor on keys, Evad on bass, Krik on guitar, Horst on fingering and blowing, and Spacecrabs on drums.

“These last few months have been an incredible ride working with Harry M. Howie to help bring his vision to the stage,” shared Ross Mollison, Impresario Extraordinaire of producing company Spiegelworld. “We told Harry that no idea was too crazy. Also seen onboard amongst the maiden flight passengers were legendary magic duo Siegfried Fischbacher and Roy Horn, Harrah’s Las Vegas headlining magician Mac King, entrepreneur and philanthropist Tony Hsieh, and many others.

Prior to takeoff, passengers enjoyed pre-flight bites from neighboring supper club Rose. Rabbit. Lie. and drinks at the OPIUM Theatre bar, which offers an exclusive libations menu curated by chef mixologist Mariena Mercer, featuring out-of-this-world Spocktails, space-themed Jell-O shots, and more. Afterward, the crew and its passengers took to The Chandelier to share laughs and revel in their enjoyment of the new hit show.

OPIUM performs Monday and Wednesday at 8 p.m. and Thursday through Sunday at 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. with no performances on Tuesday. The performance schedule is subject to change without notice.
