One of the most popular and controversial rock bands of all time, The Doors signed a record contract in 1966 and released a string of multi-platinum albums, beginning with their eponymous debut album in 1967, which peaked at number two on the U.S. Billboard 200 chart and produced the band’s most popular song, “Light My Fire.” The band followed with the album Strange Days and broke into the mainstream with Waiting for the Sun, featuring the single, “Hello, I Love You.” Following the death of lead singer Jim Morrison in 1971, the band continued as a trio and released two more albums, Other Voices and Full Circle, with Manzarek and Krieger, the band’s original guitarist and keyboardist, sharing lead vocals. They eventually disbanded, but Manzarek and Krieger continue to tour, performing Doors songs exclusively. The Doors have received 19 gold, 14 platinum and five multi-platinum album awards and sold more than 100 million albums worldwide. Three of the band’s studio albums, The Doors, Strange Days and L.A. Woman were featured in Rolling Stone’s list of “The 500 Greatest Albums of All Time” and the band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1993.
Their current band includes singer Dave Brock, Phil Chen on bass, and Ty Dennis on drums.
