Robert Downey at ShoWest 2009 State of The Industry Update
The ShoWest 2009 State of The Industry Update conference was held today at Le Theater Des Arts at the Paris Las Vegas Hotel & Casino (Photo: © Erik Kabik/ RETNA/ www.erikkabik.com). Cinema Exhibition professionals come to ShoWest for film screenings of major studio and independent feature films slated for Summer release as well as product reel presentations, special events with Hollywood’s hottest stars, educational seminars, and to find the latest products, services and technologies at the largest trade show of its kind.
Robert Downey, Jr. introduced his upcoming film Sherlock Holmes which was directed by Guy Ritchie and co-stars Jude Law. Downey also belted out the chorus to the 1980’s flic Weird Science.
Todd Phillips (director of Starsky and Hutch, Old School and Road Trip) introduced a clip of his upcoming comedy film The Hangover which was filmed in Las Vegas.
Director McG introduced the clip of his film Terminator Salvation which will star Christian Bale as John Conner.
Dan Glickman, Chairman and CEO, Motion Picture Association of America, delivered a very upbeat, positive and forward-looking speech about the film industry, and how well it has done in 2008. He expects an even bigger 2009, and said “In Hollwood, the underdog can win.”
Alan Horn, President and COO, Warner Bros. Entertainment Inc., also spoke at the event.
