At a time when the charts seem to be dominated by female solo artists, Robyn represents one of the few who is actually prepared to be an individual and let the songs do the talking. There are no elaborate costumes, no carefully constructed image, no industry machine; instead of cultivating a pop aesthetic that will guarantee commercial returns, Robyn has spent most of the last 10 years doing everything she can to find a way to be herself.

Robyn’s current single, “Dancing On My Own,” was nominated for a GRAMMY Award for “Best Dance Recording” in the United States and for “Song of the Year” in her native Sweden. She was nominated for a total of seven Swedish GRAMMY awards, including Album of the Year and Artist of the Year.

Released in November, Body Talk is the third in Robyn’s trilogy of 2010 albums. It recently came in at #14 on Rolling Stone’s Albums of the Year list. “The Swedish diva’s beats and tunes smoke her American competition,” said Rolling Stone, which also singled it out as “Best Dance Pop” album and placed “Dancing on My Own” at #26 on its “Singles of the Year” list. Body Talk appeared on NPR Music’s “50 Favorite Albums of 2010” list and New York Magazine named it one of the “Top 10 Pop Albums of 2010.”
