Rock Icons The Lovin’ Spoonful Perform Their Greatest Hits at the Suncoast Showroom July 6 and 7
Popular 1960s rock group The Lovin’ Spoonful will perform at the Suncoast Showroom July 6 and 7.

The Lovin’ Spoonful burst onto the music scene to become one of the most revered groups in music history with their first seven singles reaching the Billboard Hot 100 top 10 throughout 1965 and 1966.

Combining the best of folk music and rock and roll, with a touch of country thrown in, they gave us such hits as “Daydream,” “You Didn’t Have to be So Nice,” “Nashville Cats” and the anthem for a hot July evening, “Summer in the City.” The bands first single, “Do You Believe in Magic,” remains a defining rock and roll anthem.

Several songs by The Lovin’ Spoonful have been featured in movies including “Pow!” as the opening theme of Woody Allen’s “What’s Up, Tiger Lily” and “Darling Be Home Soon” in Francis Ford Coppola’s “You’re A Big Boy Now.” In 1980, the band performed a cameo in Paul Simon’s film “One-Trick Pony.”

In 2000, the band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame.

The current line-up of The Lovin’ Spoonful includes two of the original members, Steve Boone and Joe Butler, as well as Jerry Yester, Mike Arturi and Phil Smith.

Showtime each evening is 7:30 p.m. Tickets are available from $15.95, plus tax and convenience fees. Tickets can be purchased at any Boyd Gaming Box Office, by calling 702.636.7075 or visiting www.suncoastcasino.com.
