Sibel Altun from Sydney, Australia Is Las Vegas Monorail’s 80 Millionth Passenger
On Wednesday, May 16, at 2:42 p.m., the Las Vegas Monorail notified a delighted Sibel Altun, visiting Las Vegas from Sydney, Australia, with her fiancé Matt Fry, that she was the mass transit system’s 80 millionth passenger.
Camera bulbs flashed and confetti cannons erupted when the milestone moment took place, just inside the fare gates of the Monorail’s station at The LINQ Hotel & Casino/ Harrah’s. Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer Ingrid Reisman, accompanied by Elvis impersonator Steve Connolly, presented Altun with a basket filled with more than $3,000 of exciting Las Vegas experiences.

Ridership: Carries 5 million passengers annually; 81 percent of riders are leisure travelers and 19 percent are business/convention visitors.
Zero Emissions Trains: In 2017, the Las Vegas Monorail aided in the annual removal of an estimated 2.2 million vehicle miles from Southern Nevada’s major roadways, reducing emissions by more than 28 tons of carbon monoxide (CO), volatile organic compounds (VOC) and nitrogen oxides (NOx) over the course of the year.
