American punk rock band Guttermouth, based out of Huntington Beach, California, formed in 1988 signed to Hopeless Records. The accomplished musicians have released ten albums, including two live albums, and continue to tour extensively. The band was founded by singer Mark Adkins and guitarist Scott Sheldon. Adkins formerly played in the La Habra based punk rock band Republic before starting Guttermouth. By 1984, Republic broke up and Adkins moved on to other musical endeavors. Over the years, Guttermouth has had many members, but for the past 26 years, Adkins and Sheldon have remained as the core of the band.
In 1991, Guttermouth released their first LP titled Full Length LP under Dr. Strange Records. The popularity of their first album expanded the band’s fan base and their music was regularly played on local punk rock and skateboarding video programs. In 2006, Guttermouth released their tenth studio album Shave the Planet under Volcom Entertainment. By 2008, Guttermouth returned to Hopeless Records, their first record label, to celebrate their 20th anniversary. Guttermouth is currently working on a new album and continues to tour extensively around the world.
Hardcore punk rock band Death by Stereo, or D. B. S., started in Orange County, California in 1998 by singer Efrem Schulz. Their name derives from the cult horror film The Lost Boys (1987). Over the span of their career, Death by Stereo has released six full-length studio albums and one live album. Death by Stereo first released music under bass player Paul Miner’s record label Dental Records. Miner released music from other members of the band previous to the formation of Death by Stereo.
In 1998, Death by Stereo signed with Indecision Records to release their first album If Looks Could Kill, I’d Watch You Die. Over the years, the band continued to release music and tour around the world, gaining steady popularity. In 2012, the band released Black Sheep of the American Dream. Death by Stereo is currently signed to Viking Funeral Records, operated by Fletcher Dragge of Hermosa Beach punk rock band Pennywise.
Doors open at 7 p.m. with the show beginning at 8 p.m. Tickets are $17 in advance and $20 day of show. Advance tickets are on sale now and available online at www.smashmagazine.com or www.ticketfly.com. The show is 21+ with valid ID.
