Formed in 1985, The Reverend Horton Heat exploded on the scene by playing gigs around their hometown of Dallas, Texas. Their sound is self-described as “country-fed punkabilly” with their music a mixture of country, surf, punk, big band, swing and rockabilly, all played loud and energetically with lyrics that are often humorous. Often imitated, never duplicated, they have continued to garner the support of both the underground rockabilly/ psychobilly scene and mainstream critics. Throughout the band’s million plus album selling career, their music has been featured in countless TV shows, movies and commercials, it’s impossible to deny the powerful force that is The Reverend Horton Heat. They continue to electrify audiences time and time again with their incredible stage presence, rock ‘n roll charisma and contagious energy.
Ready to revive a genre that’s been watered down for years, The Reverend Horton Heat have jump started their headlining “Stewed, Screwed and Tattooed” tour that ignited more than fifty-seven cities across the United States throughout 2013. Lemmy from Motorhead said it best, “Reverend Horton Heat, he’s great and plays the music he believes in and nothing else. Go see him or I’ll kill you!” Prepare to rock harder than you have ever rocked before!
Its current members are Jim “Reverend Horton” Heath on guitar and lead vocals, Jimbo Wallace on the upright bass and Scott Churilla on drums. The band signed to Victory Records on November 27, 2012, and released their eleventh studio album, “Rev,” on January 21, 2014.
Tickets are $22 in advance, $25 day of show, plus any service charges. Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased online at www.smashmagazine.com. Doors open at 8 p.m. with the show beginning at 9 p.m. The show is an 18+ event, must be 21+ with valid ID for bar access.
Fremont Country Club is the new state-of-the-art 800-capacity concert venue at 601 E. Fremont St. in the Fremont East Entertainment District of downtown Las Vegas. The 8,300-square-foot facility will feature everything from blues rock to indie bands and will have live shows three-to-four nights a week. The decor, Tex-Mex with a tinge of swanky chic, features cow-skin ceilings, antler chandeliers and chrome horseshoes.
