, the band credited with establishing the Southern rock genre in the early 1970s, returns to The Orleans Showroom March 4-5. 

Since releasing its self-titled debut album in 1973, The Marshall Tucker Band has influenced numerous country music performers, including Alabama and Travis Tritt, with its definitive blend of rock, R&B, jazz, country and gospel. With hit singles “Heard It In a Love Song,” “Fire On The Mountain,” “Can’t You See” and “Take The Highway,” The Marshall Tucker Band has earned seven Gold and three Platinum albums. The group also scored four hit singles on the Billboard country music chart and one on the gospel music chart.

The Marshall Tucker Band’s music has been featured on numerous movie soundtracks, including “Smokey and the Bandit,” “Shipwrecked,” “Blow,” “Swing Vote” and “Taking Chance” as well as many television shows.

Formed in Spartanburg, S.C., the band is led by founding member and lead vocalist Doug Gray and features Pat Elwood on bass guitar; drummer B.B. Borden; multi-instrumentalist Marcus Henderson, who plays flute, saxophone and keyboards as well as lead and background vocals; Rick Willis on lead guitar and vocals; and Chris Hicks on guitar and vocals.

In honor of the 40th anniversary of one of its most famous albums, “Searchin’ For A Rainbow,” the band spent most of 2015 playing venues across the United States with the same-titled tour.
