Stone Temple Pilots to Perform at The Pearl at The Palms Feb. 25, 2011

After the group’s last sold-out appearance, The Pearl at the Palms Casino Resort welcomes back high-energy rockers Stone Temple Pilots. The group is set to hit the Pearl stage on Friday, Feb. 25, 2011 at 8 p.m.

Stone Temple Pilots, commonly called STP, hit the rock scene in the early ’90s with their debut album Core. The band quickly gained a large fan base with hits like “Sex Type Thing,” “Creep” and “Plush,” which subsequently won them a Grammy for “Best Hard Rock Performance.” Purple, the group’s sophomore effort, shot straight to number one on the Billboard charts and featured the singles, “Vasoline,” “Big Empty” and modern rock classic, “Interstate Love Song.”

For their third album in 1996, Stone Temple Pilots took a Beatlesque psychedelic approach and produced hits such as “Big Bang Baby,” “Trippin’ on a Hole in a Paper Heart” and “Lady Picture Show.” The fourth album returned to a more rock-based sound and spawned one of STP’s biggest hits, “Sour Girl.” Two years later, the group released Shangri-La Dee Da before deciding to go their separate ways. In 2008, the band regrouped and went back on tour to amazing fanfare. A year later the band was back in the studio and released a self-titled album in 2010 which reached #1 on the Top Rock Albums chart and #2 on The Billboard 200.
