Take a Break from Casino Games and Enjoy Vegas’ Most Spectacular Shows

Numbers show that Las Vegas tourists are spending more time away from casino games, opting instead for the sometimes overwhelming plethora of nightlife and entertainment offerings. In an effort to highlight this diversity, below are four of the most highly-rated shows currently enjoying a Vegas run.

Each show represents a different theme ranging from performance art and music to Broadway success and comedy.

The Show: “O” by Cirque du Soleil
The Venue: Bellagio Hotel and Casino

You knew Cirque de Soleil would be on this list somewhere, so why not just have them kick things off. “Cirque” is quickly becoming as synonymous with Vegas as many of the casino games you’ll find at the Bellagio. Inspired by “the concept of infinity and the elegance of water’s pure form”, “O” serves as homage to the role of theatre in all its forms via 13 different acts.

Performances incorporate aerial hoops, trapeze artists and synchronized swimming, among other things you shouldn’t try at home. Looking at the list of characters on the “O” website you will even find one by the name of L’Allumé who appears to be reading a newspaper…while on fire. Everyone knows that “Cirque” can put on a sizzling performance but this is just ridiculous.

The Show: Recycled Percussion
The Venue: Quad Resort and Casino

Where were you in 1995? If your name is Justin Spencer you were busy founding “Recycled Percussion”. That’s right – instead of playing casino games, Spencer was part of a troupe that would eventually garner international stardom by way of their 2009 run on America’s Got Talent.

There are doors, ladders, power drills, upside-down drums suspended 30-feet in the air and a whole lot more in the way of unorthodox musical modernizations. It all adds up to provide audiences with one of the most interactive shows in Vegas today. Wait – did we mention the training zoo? Well, you’re just going to have to check out the show or the Recycled Percussion website if you want to see more.

The Show: JERSEY BOYS
The Venue: Paris Las Vegas

We’re pretty sure there are no longer any song titles that can be cleverly incorporated into this article. That’s what happens when you’re one of the most successful and decorated musicals in history – we can’t give it anything but love and neither can Vegas.

Jersey Boys provides audiences with a great story in addition to its equally great musical performances – the hallmark of a classic in the making. The tale of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons is one that resonates across the generations thanks to its blend of heart, tears and laughs. How did four blue-collar kids become one of the greatest successes in pop music history? You would be best served by finding out for yourself.

The Show: Penn and Teller
The Venue: Rio Suite Hotel and Casino

From a classic tale to one of farce, our final entrants are the renowned Penn and Teller. There was a time when we all enjoyed the mystery and misdirection of illusion. Now, while most of us don’t want to know everything, the “Bad Boys of Magic” have shown just how much fun it is to be let in on a few choice secrets.

The Rio has a pretty good arrangement with the dynamic duo, as they make themselves available after every show to meet their fans, sign autographs and take pictures. That’s assuming all the audience members make it to the lobby, as according to the Rio website P&T’s perilous performance includes “knives, guns, a fire-eating showgirl and a duck.” We’ve seen how ducks float on water – you just can’t trust that.
