The 5th Dimension to Perform at Cannery Casino April 7
The 5th Dimension‘s collection of awards and accolades is certainly impressive. Twelve of the group’s hit albums include 14 Gold and six Platinum records, seven Grammy Awards and a multitude of other honors. The 5th Dimension featuring Florence LaRue perform at The Club inside the Cannery Casino on Saturday, April 7, 2012 at 8 p.m.
The original group burst onto the scene in 1967 with “Up, Up, and Away” and continued with a string of hits that included “One Less Bell To Answer,” “Stoned Soul Picnic,” “I Didn’t Get To Sleep At All,” “If I Could Reach You,” “Wedding Bell Blues,” “Aquarius,” “Let The Sunshine In,” “Never My Love,” “Sweet Blindness” and “Ashes to Ashes.”
Original member Florence LaRue along with Willie Williams, Leonard Tucker, Patrice Morris and Floyd Smith have toured the United States and beyond, delighting audiences by incorporating the legacy of the 5th Dimension’s intricate harmonies and adding a fresh and varied vocal range of their own.
As one reviewer put it, “Personnel changes have done little to affect the overall quality of The 5th Dimension’s sound…the group is comprised of five very different personalities and contrasting voices that have set a standard for musical quality few groups could ever hope to match,” said David Spatz of the Atlantic City Press.
