The “King of Waltz” Comes to The Orleans Arena

André Rieu and His Johann Strauss OrchestraKnown as the “King of Waltz,” André Rieu and His Johann Strauss Orchestra brings his North American tour to the Orleans Arena  for an evening of uplifting entertainment, Wednesday, June 24 at 7 p.m.

A Dutch violinist, conductor and showman, Rieu opened his tour in Toronto this April. Fans across the United States and Canada anxiously await their chance to experience the classical musical talents of Rieu, who has sold more than 25 million albums worldwide, including 11 gold or platinum releases. Together with “His Johann Strauss Orchestra,” Rieu’s tour will cover five continents.

Encouraged by his father, a symphony conductor, Rieu began violin lessons at the age of 5. Rieu’s training eventually took him to the Royal Conservatory of Brussels where he was awarded the Premier Prix. In 1978 he formed the Johann Strauss Orchestra, which has grown from 12 to nearly 50 members.

André Rieu currently holds the No. 8 position in Pollstar’s top 10 list of worldwide touring acts, a major accomplishment for a classical artist. A testament to his international appeal, Rieu topped the Australian charts in 2008, surpassing the Australian Idol and Madonna for the No. 1 album.

Tickets for reserved seating are now on sale, and are priced at $50, $79, $119 and $159, inclusive of tax and fees. Tickets can be purchased at the Orleans Arena Box Office by calling 702.284.7777 or by visiting www.orleansarena.com.
