The Light Group Debuts Kumi Japanese Restaurant + Bar by Akira Back
Already a favorite of celebrity guests including Twilight’s Kellan Lutz, Olympic swimmer Ryan Lochte, Glee star Mark Salling and actress Brooke Burke, The Light Group’s Kumi Japanese Restaurant + Bar by Akira Back at Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino celebrated its official grand opening on Wednesday, August 28th, bringing out the who’s who of Las Vegas – including a special appearance by former Full House star Bob Saget who enjoyed the food and the scene while posing for photos with excited female fans (Pictured: Melinda Sheckells with Chef Akira Back – Photo credit: Courtesy of The Light Group/Joe Janet).

Guests were treated to delicious items from Chef Akira Back’s inventive new Korean-influenced Japanese menu including the Kimchee Edamame, Crispy Rice, Shisito peppers, the bone-in Pork Chop and the Hot Mess and Crispy Pork Belly rolls while sipping Kumi’s signature Lychee Martini, Green Geisha and Cherry Blossom cocktails created by mixologist Michael Monrreal.

Some of the boldfaced names on hand to celebrate Chef Akira and The Light Group’s latest culinary venture – following the success of Yellowtail Japanese Restaurant & Lounge at The Bellagio – included Wynn nightlife impresario Jesse Waits who sat alongside actor Bob Saget and 1 OAK’s Scott Sartiano and Eli Pacino, nightlife fixtures Brandon Roque, Robert Gamch and Kalika Moquin, Moet Hennessy’s Adam Rolfe and Jessica Duran and Red Bull’s Tony Cordasco as well as Vegas Rated editor Melinda Sheckells, LVRJ’s Doug Elfman and Vegas Magazine Publisher Joe Vann.
