The Mirage and Terry Fator Pay ‘Tribute To The Troops’ for Veteran’s Day Weekend

Today was nothing short of extraordinary as unparalleled ventriloquist Terry Fator and The Mirage Hotel and Casino honored wounded war veterans during the Tribute to the Troops concert, a special Veteran’s Day weekend performance of Terry Fator: Ventriloquism in Concert inside the Terry Fator Theatre at The Mirage (Photo courtesy: Tom Donoghue/DonoghuePhotography.com).

On behalf of Fator and The Mirage, net proceeds from the show will go to the United Service Organizations (USO) Las Vegas center at McCarran International Airport.

The event began with a patriotic welcome as over 150 employees of The Mirage waved flags, clapped and cheered as the service members and their guests got off the buses and entered the resort. Many of the 75 wounded veterans were brought to tears as they shook hands with the employees, took photos and video of the exuberant greeting and thanked individuals for their support. As one employee said, “We aren’t the ones who need to be thanked. They are the true heroes who deserve all the praise.”

Upon entering the resort, the troops were escorted to the Montego Ballroom, exquisitely decorated with red, white and blue décor- linens, table centerpieces, gobos and balloon towers. Shortly after everyone was inside, Terry Fator and his wife, Taylor, arrived for a special Meet and Greet with the service members. The Fator’s went around to every table and shook the hands of each wounded veteran and family member, thanking them for their dedication and service to the United States. All of the troops then gathered for a group photo with The Fator’s as a large ‘UNITED WE STAND’ background displayed prominently on the wall.

“This benefit show is the least I can do for the people who have fought for our freedom,” said Terry Fator. “I am able to show my gratitude towards these service men and women during each performance through a special tribute, but this show allowed me to thank these brave men and women in person.”

After the Meet and Greet, the service members headed to see a special performance of Terry Fator: Ventriloquism in Concert. It was a full house as guests, visitors and the service members packed into the theatre. Laughs were had by all as Fator went through the course of his show, delighting the audience with his fun, high-energy routine. Half way through the show, Fator asked all troops stand to be acknowledged (a request he makes at all nightly shows) by the audience. A roaring applause filled the theatre as the wounded veterans stood prompting Fator to jump into the audience and take another group photo with them. Fator then continued his show and sang the touching Michael Buble favorite “Home,” a song he dedicated to everyone in the audience who had friends and family members overseas. At the end of the performance, Fator thanked The Mirage for hosting the event and waved good-bye.

The wounded veterans loaded back on to the buses and were driven to McCarran Airport. They will return to their respective homes this evening after a fun-filled, action-packed weekend in Las Vegas.
