The Smashing Pumpkins Reunion Tour Stops at The Pearl Nov. 29

Celebrating their 20th Anniversary Tour, The Smashing Pumpkins make their way to The Pearl at the Palms on Saturday, November 29, 2008 at 8:00 p.m.

The Smashing Pumpkins – one of rock’s most forward-thinking, influential, and often misunderstood musical forces – commence their North American “20th Anniversary Tour” November 1. The group is not only celebrating the milestone anniversary of their 1988 formation, but will release a precedent-setting new single “G.L.O.W.,” to be released via the Guitar Hero World Tour game, and a revealing two-DVD set If All Goes Wrong, via Coming Home Media, filmed at their residencies last year in San Francisco and Asheville, NC. “G.L.O.W.,” bundled with two other hits “1979” and “The Everlasting Gaze,” will be available post-launch of the game as a three-song downloaded content pack.

The band’s upcoming two-DVD set If All Goes Wrong is due out November 11 and consists of a 105-minute documentary, also titled If All Goes Wrong, plus The Fillmore Residency, a full concert filmed in late July and early August of 2007 over five of the 11 sold-out nights at the famed Fillmore Auditorium in San Francisco. From the opening note to the final chord, the documentary If All Goes Wrong showcases a band returning with an “enveloping epic force” (Los Angeles Times) as it traces the Pumpkins during their 19-show residency, which began with eight shows at Asheville, NC’s Orange Peel in late June. Interviews with band members, fans, journalists and fellow musicians reveal the fears, excitement, determination, exhaustion and tension inherent in Billy Corgan and his newly revitalized musical unit.

The Smashing Pumpkins have created one of the most acclaimed bodies of work in musical history and sold more than 30 million albums. Formed in Chicago in 1988, they released Gish, their influential and platinum debut in 1991, which was followed by more platinum and multi-platinum albums including the nine-time platinum Mellon Collie And The Infinite Sadness and the four-time platinum Siamese Dream as well as the platinum certified 1998 album Adore. The pivotal group’s many hits defined the alternative music era and continue to resonate on modern rock radio, influencing a whole new generation.

The Pumpkins returned in 2007 with their gold-certified and acclaimed sixth album Zeitgeist, which entered the charts in July at Number 2 in the U.S. and in the Top Ten internationally. Since their triumphant return to the stage in 2007, the Pumpkins have headlined some of the biggest events around the globe including the Reading Festival, Rock Am Ring and the V fest. Earlier this year, the band was inducted into Hollywood’s RockWalk. Their first post-major label release was the song “Superchrist,” issued via the Guitar Center CD Fresh Cuts Vol. 2.
