From the Top with Host Christopher O’Riley, the preeminent showcase for young musicians heard weekly on Classical 89.7 KCNV, will record a radio broadcast at The Smith Center for the Performing Arts in Las Vegas, Sunday, February 25, 2018 at 2 p.m. 

The popular NPR radio program features the amazing performances and captivating personal stories of extraordinary young classical musicians from across the country.

Hosted by Christopher O’Riley, the recording event will include an entertaining mix of interviews, personal stories, and performances showcasing inspiring young musicians from Las Vegas and across the United States.

The taping will feature two local performers: Jordan Farber, a 16-year-old bassoonist and junior at the Las Vegas Academy of the Arts and Parsa Sabet, an 18-year-old guitarist and senior at Sierra Vista High School. Jordan will perform Récit et allegro by Noël Gallon and Parsa will perform Recuerdos de la Alhambra by Francisco Tárrega and Danza in E minor by Jorge Morel.

Also featured: 12-year-old violinist Kaia Kelden from Portland, Oregon, 16-year-old pianist Lauren Kim from Chicago, Illinois, 15-year-old pianist Colin Song from Glenview, Illinois, and 18-year-old tenor Colin Aikins from Lower Burrell, Pennsylvania.

This program will broadcast on stations nationwide and by podcast in spring 2018. Date to be announced. Tune in to From the Top on Classical 89.7 KCNV Sundays at noon.
