The Smith Center for the Performing Arts Welcomes Soul/Folk Artist Amos Lee to Reynolds Hall Tuesday, Feb. 25
The Smith Center for the Performing Arts is excited to announce that folk, rock, and soul hybrid artist Amos Lee will play Reynolds Hall on Tuesday, Feb. 25 at 7:30 p.m (Photo credit: Harper Smith).
Lee propelled up the musical ladder in 2011 landing him number one spots on the Billboard 200, Amazon, and iTunes charts with “Mission Bell” as well as the hit single, “Windows are Rolled Down.” Since his unsurprising success, he has created a fifth album, “Mountains of Sorrow, Rivers of Song,” which he will showcase at his Smith Center performance.
While Lee’s music and writing maintains its cinematic qualities, he is sharing with his audience another dimension of his artistic explorations. For the first time, the singer-songwriter recorded with his touring band in-studio. Additionally, Lee worked alongside Sugarland, the Zac Brown Band and country legend Willie Nelson to achieve a sound for his new 12-track record that his listeners will recognize and fully embrace for its creative qualities.
Venturing into his tenth year as a recording artist, Lee mixed up his recording practices by moving to Nashville, hiring a new producer, and opening the creative floodgates to attract opportunities for inspiration by allowing for change in his signature productions. Working with producer, Jay Joyce (who has also worked with the likes of Emmylou Harris, Little Big Town, and Eric Church), the Blue Note Records artist has brought a new life to his signature sound.
Utilizing music city and its all-encompassing culture for his muse, his listeners will be delighted to find that his truth-ridden lyrics remain in their entirety but are highlighted with a new angle of instrumentation sprinkled throughout the tracks.
