Attended by internationally-known philanthropists Dr. Miriam and Sheldon G. Adelson, chairman of the board and CEO of Las Vegas Sands Corp., the ceremony featured the Nellis Air Force Base Honor Guard and “America’s Tenor,” Steve Amerson, who sang the National Anthem. Senator John Ensign, Congressman-elect Dr. Joe Heck, American Airlines’ Bob Reding, ThanksUSA’s Bob Okun, and Las Vegas Sands Corp. President Michael Leven all addressed the crowd of Army, Navy, Air Force and Marine Corps veterans, expressing their gratitude for the veterans’ courage and sacrifice.

This year marks the fifth time Dr. Miriam and Sheldon G. Adelson, along with The Sands Foundation, have hosted our nation’s wounded warriors at The Venetian to say thank you and to honor their service and bravery.

“You’re getting thanked in this amazing way, having an amazing weekend in Vegas,” said Army veteran Bryant Jacobs, wounded while serving in Iraq. “How could you not get teary eyed?”

While many in the audience were visibly choked up at the ceremony, the veterans can nevertheless expect a fun-filled weekend that will not be forgotten. During their stay at The Venetian, they’ll enjoy a performance of Blue Man Group with a VIP reception; an intimate concert with country music legend Clint Black; a concert by Gary Sinise and the Lt. Dan Band; skydiving exhibitions; shopping excursions; city tours; spa treatments—all the while enjoying luxurious all-suite accommodations.

The weekend will conclude with a Sunday afternoon show by Terry Fator, ventriloquist and “America’s Got Talent” winner. Remaining tickets for Fator’s performance will be offered to the public, with proceeds benefiting the United Service Organization (USO).

The veterans will depart from their VIP weekend in Las Vegas to the same heartfelt cheers and applause that welcomed them. More than 1,500 Venetian team members are expected to send off the wounded warriors at 10 a.m. this Sunday, Nov. 14.
