“The Vinyl Say with Rasar Amani” Celebrates 20th Anniversary of Mos Def’s Iconic Album “Black on Both Sides” at the Writer’s Block at The Lucy in Downtown Las Vegas on Friday 10/4
Every first Friday of the month witness a collision between music, history, and artistry as industry veteran and renowned hip hop chronicler Rasar Amani explores some of the most transformative albums of yesterday and today through reviews, hot takes, Q&A’s, and special performances with Las Vegas’ most conscience musicians.
Coming on the heels of a successful launch earlier this month, The Vinyl Say returns to the Writer’s Block at The Lucy on Friday, October 4 at 6 p.m.
This month Amani will celebrate the 20th anniversary of one of the most influential hip-hop albums to date, Mos Def’s “Black on Both Sides,” and welcome fellow Vegas MC Spxtrm for a featured interview and performance. One part concert one part conversation, this distinct concept aims to fuel engagement with its thought-provoking program, intimate setting, and authentic music hang. Inspired by the growing online album review community, the series will choose one historic album each month and give fans a more cerebral look and listen through Records (Vinyl DJ) + Rhymes (live performances) + Reviews (panel-style discussion and crowd Q&A).
“The Vinyl Say with Rasar Amani” is presented in tandem by The Writer’s Block Book and Coffee Shop and The Lucy, a first-of-its-kind creative community in Downtown Las Vegas. All shows are free and all ages.
