The World's First Nicki Minaj Wax Figure to Debut at Madame Tussauds Las Vegas Aug. 4
The world’s first Madame Tussauds wax figure of multi-platinum, award-winning rapper and singer Nicki Minaj will debut on Tuesday, Aug. 4 at 10 a.m. (Pictured: image from Anaconda video).

The unveiling will take place inside Madame Tussauds Las Vegas at The Venetian. Minaj’s Anaconda video, which has been viewed on YouTube nearly 500 million times, was the inspiration for the provocative pose, styling of her wax figure and detailed set.

The ambience of the video—including the junglee backdrop, back-up dancers and special effects-will be recreated for the figure’s debut. Minaj’s figure will be permanently on display inside of the attraction’s Music Room.

The Madame Tussauds studio began creating Minaj in February, taking nearly six months to create. More than 20 artists sculpted the figure that was inspired by her popular “Anaconda” video. Based from over 300 precise body measurements, Minaj’s figure was first sculpted in clay by hand and covered in a plaster cast. Once the clay was removed from the cast, the wax was poured in and allowed to cool. Finally, the figure was fitted with acrylic eyes and teeth; hairs on the head and face were inserted individually by hand and countless layers of paints and tints were applied to build up skin tones all to achieve her astonishingly lifelike figure and her now famous pose.

“Guests have been consistently asking us to make her figure. As her music continues to grow in popularity, so does her larger-than-life persona and we wanted to capture that essence by creating the type of Madame Tussauds figure guests will find only in a city like Las Vegas,” says Cole Kouvaris, marketing manager, Madame Tussauds Las Vegas.

Immediately following the debut of Nicki Minaj, Madame Tussauds will launch an Instagram photo contest offering guests the chance to win a Nicki Minaj goodie bag. They will upload their photos posing on the “Anaconda” set to Instagram and tag the pictures with #mtnickiselfie. The contest will run through Sunday, Aug. 30 and the winner will be announced on Madame Tussauds’ social media channels on that day.
