Travelocity Sees Green in Caesars Entertainment Resorts

Travelocity has bestowed its coveted “eco-friendly hotel” green leaf to seven Las Vegas Caesars Entertainment Corporation resorts including Caesars Palace Hotel and Casino, Bally’s Las Vegas, Paris Las Vegas, Bill’s Gamblin’ Hall & Saloon, Flamingo Las Vegas, Harrah’s Las Vegas, and the Rio All-Suites Hotel & Casino.

Travelocity awards the leaf to resorts that have been certified by second- or third-party green hotel certification programs whose standards closely align with the Global Sustainable Tourism Criteria (GSTC), and that have had an independent audit. Caesars’ CodeGreen programs, the environmental sustainability initiative at the company, align with the baseline criteria of the GSTC. Thousands of Caesars’ employees across the 36 domestic resorts develop and implement new initiatives fueling the grassroots energy of the CodeGreen program.

This year, Caesars took CodeGreen a step further, bringing environmental sustainability “front of house,” allowing guests to participate and extended sustainability beyond the walls through small grants for employees to reduce energy use (and utility costs) at home.

“Caesars has been working for years to better the communities that we serve,” said Jan Jones, senior vice president of communications and government relations, Caesars Entertainment. “Ensuring the environmental sustainability of the areas in which we operate is akin to ensuring the longevity of our brand.”

On Travelocity, green hotels are marked within the normal shopping path with the easy-to-spot “eco-friendly hotel” leaf. This tag allows travelers to compare similar hotels by location and price and immediately see which offerings provide an eco-friendly advantage. Plus, shoppers can now sort search results to show only the eco-friendly options in their destinations. All hotels in Travelocity’s Green Hotel Directory have been certified by approved second-party or third-party certification programs, provided by organizations like EarthCheck, Green Key, and Energy Star, just to name a few.

In October, Caesars resorts welcomed the Travelocity Roaming Gnome as he toured environmentally sustainable properties in Las Vegas for The Roaming Gnome’s Green Tour of Las Vegas.
