Vegas Showgirl Elly Brown to Star in Sci-Fi Thriller

Vegas Showgirl Elly Brown to Star in Sci-Fi Thriller
Two months ago, Elly Brown was onstage next to Mayor Caroline Goodman at the United States Conference of Mayors in Washington, DC, in a full-feathered headdress and high heels.  Today, she’s spattered in fake blood and dodging aliens while working on the Indy Film Factory’s next feature, Domicile, directed here in Las Vegas by Kelly Schwartz (Photo credit: Radiant Inc.)

Don’t call her a showgirl, though.   Or a “model”.  Elly admits, “I have referred to myself as a “slasher”—actor-slash-model-slash-host-slash-singer—but I really don’t like the word.  And “freelance entertainer” sounds like code for something shady”, she laughs.

Yet in the past year, her hosting and singing projects have taken off in a blaze.  She  presented on camera for Royal Caribbean’s onboard program, Royal Shopper, co-hosted an infomercial for The Back Marvel, and began performing with her a cappella group, The Sound Collage (founded by Joshua Danger of Mo5aic fame).

She’s also the cover model of this month’s Desert Companion.

But landing a principle role on Domicile has been one of her greatest challenges thus far:

“I trained at the Ivana Chubbuck Studios in Los Angeles, but acting doesn’t come easily to me,” said Brown.  “It takes tremendous preparation and vulnerability.  Compared to modeling, though, the payoff sure is satisfying.”

Of her modeling gigs, Elly says they are just the cherry on the sundae.

“It’s fun to be recognized from a magazine cover, and I’m always grateful for the work.  But when I’m throwing myself into a script like Domicile, or when fans approach us after a show and praise The Sound Collage, that’s when I feel like I’m answering my calling”.

“My mom phoned to say she loved my cover for Desert Companion.   I told her, “Ma, I love modeling, and I’ll do it as long as anyone wants to hire me…but I’ll be even prouder when The Sound Collage makes the cover of Desert Companion.”

You can follow Elly’s adventures as a freelance entertainer on her Facebook page and see Elly’s swim feature right now in the April issue of Desert Companion.

Domicile is scheduled for release in 2017.
