Virtuoso Pianist Vernell Brown, Jr. to Headline at The Lake Las Vegas Jazz Series August 11
The incredible Vernell Brown Jr. makes a stop in Vegas to bring his jazz quintet to Lake Las Vegas for Jazz Under The Stars, Saturday, August 11 at 7:00pm. Brown, currently touring Europe and the Mid-East with Kenny Garrett, makes Las Vegas home when he’s not traveling.

He’ll be backed by a stageful of top players, including drummer (and KUNV Radio host) John Nasshan; a second drummer, longtime Las Vegan Gary Powell; percussionist “Doc T” Roy Turner; and Bob Baker on bass. Strong, innovative rhythms from three top percussionists backing Brown make this a can’t-miss performance, made even better by special performances from remarkable vocalists Windy Karigianes and Brittany Brown.

Vernell Brown is a virtuoso jazz pianist and multifaceted composer known for sparkling compositions and creative performances. He began as a child prodigy, playing at age 4. By his teens, Brown was discovered and signed with A&M Records, by legendary recording executive Jerry Moss. Over the years, Brown has collaborated with a litany of jazz greats: Benny Carter, Dizzy Gillespie, Joe Sample, Marcus Miller, Ernie Andrews, Stix Hooper, Herb Alpert, Will Jennings and more. Recently, he has recorded and toured extensively with Ronnie Laws, Kenny Garrett and Gladys Knight, capping a career that has taken him from his birthplace in Los Angeles, across the United States, Europe and Asia, performing at the most prestigious venues worldwide. Vernell Brown Jr’s latest CD, “World Peace, New World” is scheduled for release November, 2012.
