4 Must-See Las Vegas Landmarks
Las Vegas is one of the most famous cities in the world, known in particular for its casinos. Nevada’s largest city has several nicknames which include but are not limited to: Sin City, The Gambling Capital of the World and America’s Playground.
Of course if you’re only interested in casinos, then it may be worth saving your money and visiting a casino site like Paddy Power instead. But, if you’re looking to take in everything Sin City has to offer, then book those flights to Las Vegas. And while you’re there, don’t forget to check out the following landmarks.
Stratosphere Las Vegas
You can find this iconic hotel and casino on Las Vegas Boulevard and if you’re feeling lucky then you can visit their casino and try your hand at slots, video poker, table games like blackjack and craps and Texas Hold ‘Em poker tournaments.
The hotel opened in 1996 and cost $850 million to construct. There are 2,427 rooms on the site with an 80,000 square foot casino.
It’s not all about the casino games at Stratosphere as there is plenty more on offer, such as four thrill rides 100 stories up as well as a rotating restaurant and observation deck. So if you’re after more than just a gambling thrill, the Big Shot ride might just be the perfect way to get your adrenaline pumping.
Paris Las Vegas
If you’d like to see the Eiffel Tower, but would rather a trip to the States than to continental Europe, then fear not, Las Vegas has you covered. Paris Las Vegas is another hotel and casino, but this one offers you a replica Eiffel Tower to look at. It was scaled at 1:2 as a full size replica, which was the original plan, but would have interfered with McCarran Airport which is located nearby.
The hotel has featured in a number of films including 2012, Resident Evil: Extinction and in the post-credits of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.
Located on the Las Vegas Strip, the hotel has close to 3,000 rooms for people to stay in. There was originally a French theme to the hotel, but that has been slowly phased out to appeal to a wider audience.
Planet Hollywood Las Vegas
The Hollywood themed hotel and casino is owned and operated by Caesars Entertainment Corporation, which is one of America’s biggest gaming corporations. In 2007, the resort, formerly known as Aladdin, underwent a transformation into Planet Hollywood.
Each of the 2,500 rooms are dedicated to a certain movie and feature actual props from the movies. When the renovations were underway they were done in stages to allow the resort to remain open during that time.
There is a three-acre casino floor with ‘Hollywood hip’ style architecture. Alongside the traditional casino games like poker, blackjack and slots, there are also areas for sportsbook betting with 33 plasma screens.
Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas Sign
We’ve all seen the sign welcoming people to Las Vegas and if you take a trip to Sin City, you’ll have the opportunity to see it yourself. The sign, erected in 1959, is one of the most recognisable icons in the city and while it may not be able to entertain in the same way as the other icons, it’s always worth checking off the list of Vegas icons to visit.
